Goodbye Shade

When I found out that Shade Clothing was closing their web-store and store I had a mini freak out because that's what I was baking on when I had to wear garments. So I tossed and I turned the night I got their email and then I realized, HEY! I am going to make my OWN undershirt!! So the next morning I woke up with a mission, I marched to my sewing machine and made my own modest undershirt...

Here is the Shade top

And here is MY shirt!! (This is the only fabric I had on hand, it's my tester top)

YAY! So now I don't have to throw away any of my clothes when I do have to wear garments!
Oh Happy DAY!

Feel the Burn!

I am in the processes of getting my Pilates certification, I had the summer off and I started classes again on Monday. I bought a ton of LuLuLemon sweats and shorts and pants but I didn't have many tops to go with them! So I decided to make my own tops! Above I am wearing the Pink and Navy striped one I made, then I went and made a bunch more.

Then I made a headband so that I could pull my hair back in a cute way when I needed to, the headbands come in handy in ballet for sure. Functional and cute!

My final pride and joy is the yoga bag I made for my mat! I haven't been able to find one that I liked so I thought I would just make my own! About three years ago I bought this fabric and I haven't been able to do anything with it until the other day! Dun dun dun dunnnn MY YOGA BAG! (Well Pilates Bag) ...

Danny said I looked silly not facing the camera so he had me take another picture, but for some reason my arm is all tweaked ha ha
All ready for Pilates!!
I need to find a new pose!

Grey Knit Dress

This has been SUCH a hot summer (okay not really "summer" more like "couple of weeks"), so I decided to make a couple of breezy stretch knit dresses that I could just wear with a sports bra underneath or a bathing suit and then take off for the day. Here is a picture of the grey dress I made. The rest look exactly the same but in different colors. These dresses have made my summer much more enjoyable ha ha.

Linen Skirt

Okay so I finally took pictures of the stuff I've been making lately, we can start with the green linen skirt I made. I thought it would be nice for summer, I loved the colors and the pattern on the fabric and it was on sale so I HAD to get it!

RED-y for the Fair

I haven't posted anything in FOREVER! As I was leaving for the Orange County Fair I realized that I was wearing one of the new skirts I made, same old same, just a red knit skirt. So I had Danny take a picture of me before we left so that I had something to post. I still have to take pictures of a cute linen skirt I made, a beach cover up, and a couple dresses - I hope to do that early next week. Thank goodness it is finally getting hot around here, it feels like summer took forever to get here! So, I will be soaking up the rays by the pool while I can and hopefully sewing in the afternoon. On the way home from the fair we stopped by IKEA and I bought some cute fabrics so I can't wait to do something with those! This is a pretty awful post, I know it is poorly constructed but I just thought I should post something since it has been so long.
Happy Tanning!

Chicken Pox ... Boo!

Sorry I haven't been posting, I got the chicken pox (at the ripe old age of 23!) and so I didn't craft for about 3 weeks, but now I am all better!! I made a fantastic beach cover up with the help of my bff Mary and her fabulous mother, the Apron Lady - Jan Lutz! I will be posting pictures ASAP, I also got around to making a couple more skirts. In June I made my first skirt for someone other than myself and I will try and get pictures of that on here too so you can see my skirts on someone other than myself. I don't know how many people read this, if any, but I will be posting a real craft/clothing post this week/weekend! PS Happy late Fourth of July.

More Knits!

I've been going knit crazy! I wish I would've made skirts out of all my stretch knits! I can't wait to go back to the fabric store in the next couple of weeks, I have the whole summer to sew and that's exactly what I am going to do! In a couple of months I will start working on my coat for winter, I am still on the hunt for the perfect fabric! I can't wait! I have started making little sashes for my skirts so that I don't have to wear belts with them every time, I kind of like it cause then I can make the bow tie either in the front (like in the bright skirt in this post) or in the back (like in the navy skirt in the previous post). It's just a little bit different and nice to have. I am so glad that the sun has come out to play! It is finally getting hot and it feels like summer is here : )
Happy Memorial Day!

Navy Knit

I needed a navy blue knit skirt to wear to Universal Studios so I went and got fabric and made one in like two and a half hours the night before. I think it shows! I did use cheap elastic so that is definitely part of it, usually I use nicer elastic that doesn't fold every time I put my skirt on. I just had that elastic sitting around and I used it, bad move, really bad move! But it is not a big deal, all I have to do is open up the waist band, take the elastic out and replace it with my nicer elastic. I have another knit skirt I am working on that is very loud and fun! I am loving knit skirts right now, I will post more of them later this week. Yay for summer : )

A Post for Myself

This has nothing to do with anything except my friend Manny posted a video of my very first dance concert dancing to Freakum Dress (it was not a very formal dance concert, this was just a fun concert put on entirely by students). I was the only white girl and I think I held my own for the most part, I mean it was my first semester dancing! Give me a break. Anywho I wanted the video for myself but I don't know how to save it on my computer so I decided to post it on here and that way I can have it forever. You don't have to watch it, like I said this post is really just for me to have a record of the number. I will be posting pictures of the new knit skirts I've started making this weekend. Happy weekend!

Polka Dots

I bought a light blue fabric with cream polka dots a while back, I decided to make a skirt out of it and then I made a matching band to go around it. I think it is one of my best skirts yet, skirts are getting easier for me now and I think I might be able to make them from other people. I go back and forth because people can be a bit picky and I don't know what I would price the skirts at. I am not a professional seamstress so my skirts are not perfect. So I don't know, I guess if someone REALLY wanted a skirt I would do it but they would have to promise to love it and not be too critical ha ha.
